Best Indoor Plants Decor Living Room Ideas

Plants are a classic, wonderful way to decorate your home.  With a little creativity I’m sure you can find many ways to incorporate them into your home, but here are some ideas for indoor plant decor that can help spark some ideas for you.

Using Indoor Plants As Decor For Your Living Room

Urban homesteaders love growing our own food and having beautiful homes! Thankfully, indoor plants decor design is not hard to learn!

Use Vines

Vines like pothos are super versatile and can be used in many different ways.  You can wrap them around mirrors, hang them from ceilings and let them drape.  They can trail down around windows by placing a shelf above your windows.  If you don’t have a lot of natural light, add some attractive grow lights above your vines to encourage them to grow upwards too!

Use What You Already Have

Plants also dress up furniture that we already have.  They can soften entertainment centers and add some life to them.  They’re great on bookcases (as long as they have waterproof pots!).  And they can fill awkward spots on any shelf.  They’re also great in places like bathrooms and laundry rooms and are easily cleaned by a quick rinse off in the shower.

You can also incorporate furniture into your decorating scheme with the intention of using it for your plants!  Bar carts, beautiful pots, and repurposed items such as ladders, barrels, tubs and fruit crates can add a fun vibe.  Large plants are great near larger furniture items such as sofas and in corners.

Apply Basic Decorating Principles to Indoor Plant Decor

When planning your decorating with plants, make sure to apply good decorating principles to your plant selection.  Make sure to vary the textures and heights you use in your selections.  Choose a few colors that will highlight what you already have and use those plants as centerpieces that really pop.  Or if you have a fairly neutral interior already, you can change your color scheme regularly!  A little bit of contrast in textures and colors can really pull your space together.

Just because we are urban homesteaders doesn’t mean we can’t have beautiful homes as well. Thankfully, plants work great for both purposes.
